El 7 de mayo recibimos en nuestro canal a Natalia Pinasco y Cecilia Molina, representantes de YFU Argentina, una organización que apuesta por la educación intercultural como herramienta para construir un mundo más empático, conectado y en paz. La entrevista nos permitió conocer el detrás de escena de esta ONG que abre puertas a jóvenes de todo el mundo para vivir experiencias transformadoras.
¿Qué es YFU?
YFU, sigla de Youth For Understanding (Jóvenes para el Entendimiento), es una ONG internacional que organiza programas de intercambio cultural para adolescentes entre 15 y 18 años. Su misión es fomentar el entendimiento mutuo entre culturas a través de la convivencia con familias anfitrionas y la asistencia a escuelas locales en los países de destino.
Según Cecilia Molina, coordinadora mexicana de YFU y ex participante del programa, «uno no puede hacer la guerra con alguien que es tu amigo o tu familia», y justamente ese es el espíritu que guía a la organización: crear lazos que trasciendan fronteras.
La experiencia de Natalia en Laboulaye
Natalia Pinasco, conocida por su compromiso con el desarrollo cultural en Laboulaye, se sumó a YFU hace un año como consejera local. Su rol es acompañar tanto a las familias anfitrionas como a los estudiantes extranjeros que llegan a la ciudad. Todo comenzó cuando una familia de Laboulaye se ofreció a recibir a un estudiante alemán, y desde entonces la comunidad ha vuelto a abrir sus puertas a nuevos jóvenes cada año.
Este septiembre, por ejemplo, Laboulaye recibirá a una estudiante de Estonia. “Es una experiencia enriquecedora para todos: el chico que llega, la familia que recibe y la comunidad que aprende”, cuenta Natalia.
De México a Alemania… y ahora a Argentina
Cecilia, por su parte, compartió su historia personal: se fue de intercambio a Alemania a los 17 años sin hablar ni alemán ni inglés. Su experiencia fue tan profunda que decidió seguir vinculada a la organización y hoy viaja por distintos países promoviendo los programas de YFU.
Actualmente se encuentra en Argentina para acompañar el desarrollo local de la organización y alentar a más jóvenes a participar. “No se trata solo de aprender un idioma, sino de convivir, adaptarse, crecer y ver el mundo con otros ojos”, dice.
¿Quiénes pueden participar?
Los requisitos son simples:
- Tener entre 15 y 18 años.
- Haber aprobado todas las materias escolares.
- Llenar un formulario en la web: www.yfu.org.ar
Una vez iniciado el proceso, el equipo de YFU realiza entrevistas y seguimiento personalizado para acompañar a las familias y estudiantes en todo momento.
